QR Code Analytics

By Rich Jones

So, you've got a suite of mobile applications or a mobile website and you want to use QR codes to do your real world advertising. Great! But you're a pro - you want to get some feedback about your new users. This guide will show you how to use Google Analytics and OmniQRCode to get analytic data for your mobile marketing campaigns.

Getting Started with Mobile Analytics

First, you'll need a Pro account with OmniQR for this to work. OmniQR will handle all the hosting, device detection and redirection, so you don't have to worry about any of that complicated stuff! You just need an account so we can help you track your users.

Google Analytics

You will also need an account with Google Analytics. This is totally free, and it's the best analytics available on the web. You don't have to use Google Analytics with OmniQR code, but it is free and extremely popular, so this guide will explain how to use it.

Once you have logged into your Google Analytics account, click on Add Website Profile and enter a new domain. For the url, type in "omniqrcode.com" and hit Finish. It should look like this:

This will take you to the next page. The page will have a block of code on it that looks similar to the one below. In it, you will notice a line that contains a string of numbers in the form UA-XXXXXXXX-X, where the Xs are your numbers. That is important.

Don't copy their block of code. Instead, use this following code, with the X's replaced with your number from above!

OmniQR

Now that you've got your analytics code, you need to head over to OmniQRCode.com and sign into your account. If you haven't made one yet, you'll need to make a new campaign. Once you've done that and set up your redirection targets, scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your analytics code into the analytics section. It should look like this (only with your code number instead of X's):

Then, press Update Campaign, and you're set!

Conclusion

Don't be alarmed if it takes a while for your analytics to show up! Google Analytics often takes more than a day to track new events. It'll show up, don't worry!

That's all there is to it! Easy, right? Do you have any questions or comments? Leave them in the comments section below, or send us an email!
